Free Friday 13 June

Harju, Tallinn

Rävala pst 8/ Estonia pst 1

Archaeological dig in the centre of the capital city Tallinn at Rävala Avenue 8 was undertaken due to development plans. Leading archaeologist Mihkel Tammet will explain what the cultural layers at the site tell us about the history of the area and demonstrate finds from the Early Middle Ages onwards. The investigated area is slightly higher than the surroundings. As soon as sea retreated from here nearly two thousand years ago, the first settlers came.
