Saare maakond Muhu vald Linnuse küla
According to the Hendrik´s Livonian Chronicle the ancient hill fort in Muhu on the island Saaremaa was captured from the pagan Oeselians by Germanic crusaders in January 1227. A large Crusader army was gathered after the call of the Papal legate William of Modena. Archaeologist Jaan Tamm will introduce the stronghold during a guided walk on 14 June, explaining what is known about the site from written records and as a result of archeological excavations. Two major silver hoards that have been discovered from the hill fort include coins minted from 1165 to 1223 AD.
