Opening of the event

14:00 Opening of the event by the archaeologist dr. Arturs Tomsons. An introduction to the profession of an archaeologist, a brief summary about European archaeological parks and an initiative of Latvijas Arheoklubs to create an archaeological park in Lucavsala, Riga.

A lecture about the historical plants and neolithic wickerwork workshop

15:00 A lecture by a textile artist Liva Kaprale about the historical plants and a practical workshop on neolithic wickerwork from the plant fibres.

Prehistoric fishing net workshop

16:00. A prehistoric fishing net making workshop will be led by a folklorist Liene Kņaze. Prehistoric skills sometimes come alive and get second application especially in the context of the war in Ukraine, where nets are used for camouflage purposes.

A lecture about the historical textiles

17:00 Lecture by dr. Ieva Pigozne about historical textiles will be held and a discussion about what sort of information the clothing helds.

Bronze casting demonstration

18:00 A bronze working demonstration will be held by dr. Artūrs Tomsons using the lost wax method.
