The aim of this touring exhibition is to bring the Cooperation Network of the Heritage of Roman Roads in Europe to the general public and make known the heritage of its members: the Ruta Via de la Plata (Spain), the city of Arlon (Belgium), MuséoParc Alesia (France), the Aquileia Foundation (Italy), the city of Braga (Portugal) and the Institute for the Protection of the Cultural Monuments of Sremska Mitrovica (Serbia).
The keys to this initiative are, firstly, a proposal to travel slowly and explore the great Roman legacy in Europe, which unites people and places with shared history and heritage. Secondly, it aims to put into practice the values of the Council of Europe: cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and mutual exchanges across frontiers.
Iter Romanum Exhibition
Gijón (Asturias, Spain) is the first place on the Ruta Via de la Plata to host the travelling exhibition Iter Romanum – Roman Roads in Europe. An initiative of the Cooperation Network of the Heritage of Roman Roads in Europe (www.iter-romanum.eu).
The exhibition will later travel to other venues on the Ruta Via de la Plata (Mérida, Medina de las Torres, Zamora and La Bañeza) before moving to Braga (Portugal) and then to the other countries that are currently members of this international association.
