Antandros is an important ancient Troad city that lies 2 km off Altınoluk, Edremit. Antandros, situated on a strategic junction overlooking the road between Mysia and Troad is believed by some historians to be built long before the Trojan War.
The academic excavation works started with surface survey on 2000 and has been continuing under a ministerial decree since 2007. The ancient writers trace Antandros in history as back as the Trojan War. You can follow the mark left by Antandros on the face of history in the past centuries through the time line below. Beginning from 13th century BC to the city’s re-discovery in 18th century AC and to the beginning of scientific works in 2000s; here is everything about Antandros.

The city, which is located within the boundaries of the Alanya district of Antalya province, was established on the summit of a hill about 400m above the seashore, which the locals call Asar Tepe. We may presume the ruins that have been preserved until today are concentrated in this area and that would be the city center.
The cities of Laertes, Nouloi (Naula), Korakesion, and Hamaxia are on the west side of the city while the cities Iatape, Selinus, and Antiochia ad Cragum are on the east side.
The city’s location provided great advantages in terms of security and trade. Wine and olive-oil obtained from many workshops were exported with the amphorae which were produced in the city.
